Mini-Vacation!

Joshua sure has been spoiled this summer with a number of little getaways. Since Daddies was leaving from Houston today, we decided to go down a bit early...stay at nice family resort, go to the zoo, and just have fun for a couple of days. We all had tons of fun...

We started off at the zoo. Joshua was very excited especially because he heard a train whistle as we pulled up in the parking lot. We thought we could go do the zoo and then the train...not so much...Joshua was focused on one thing and that was riding a train....

so we left the zoo to ride the train. The picture below is the wonderful attitude my darling son was giving me as we "patiently" waited for the train.

All attitude disappeared when he saw the train coming around the bend...

Joshua is on Henry (from Thomas & Friends) kick right now...everything needs to be Henry...so he named this train Henry.

A happy mommy and bubbies again...

After the train ride it was back to the zoo...we saw many animals

and even got to play in the water. While I was a little disappointed with the size of the exhibits for the animals (the elephants in particular seemed really nervous), the children's zoo was really cool...nice shaded playground and water fun.

From the zoo...we had to ride Henry once again.

Then it was to our nice resort. This place was really cool...the shot below doesn't give the pool area justice...3 pools, 3 water slides, resort staff walking around with fresh fruit for guests, music, face painting, balloon animal making, fountains (or whales as J calls them...think blow holes)...all surrounded by beautiful trees. It was really nice and we had alot of fun. In fact, once we went back to the hotel we did not leave until check out...they showed a movie for kids that night. We will be coming back here :)

More pool time this morning...

then off to The Woodlands Children's Museum...where Joshua played with more trains (go figure) and even got one painted on his arm.

It was a full 36 hours! Mommy starts orientation on Monday, so this was our last hoo-rah for the summer.

Brazos Valley Bombers Baseball Game!

Last night we went to the last home game of the local baseball team, the Brazos Valley Bombers. We met up with some new friends, Hayden (3), Evan (3), and Patrick (5). The boys had a good time, and although Joshua gave me a bit of a hard time, I managed to have some fun as well. ( I don't think I am going to get out of the terrible 3s since I already had a terrible 2...I get both, it seems :) )

Although Joshua pretty much refuses to hold Mommy's hand these days. He was more than happy to link on to the little boy chain. I thought the boys looked so cute with Jonathan & Angela (Hayden's parents) walking up to the ballpark.

Evidence of the attitude I got all night. HA!

But then again, he still can be a sweet boy!

Kaboom is the mascot of the BV Bombers. Joshua and Hayden were in pretty smittin with the guy. Hayden would kiss is hands and hug is legs and Joshua was just all grins...

Hugging a ball with a baseball cap on can be kind of hard.
Can't wait for more games next summer.

A Perfect Saturday Morning in B/CS

We had such a wonderful saturday morning! We got to ride our new bike for the first time. Here is our morning...
Joshua with his "hat" and kashi breakfast bar. "I am ready to go, Mommy" (his favorite phrase these days.)

Our new ride! A 2009 Raleigh Venture 3.0 (do I sound like a bike person now :) )

All strapped in and ready to go...fuzziness of the photo is just evidence of slight humidity in the air...it was nice though, it worked well with the fantastic morning breeze.

After a ride and a stop at the park, we rode up to the McDonalds to make good on a Mommy promise for Saturday morning pancakes.

More play at McDonalds. Then home. A nice ride and some nice play. I can't wait to ride again.

First Day of Montessori School (Almost)

Well today was the first day of school. We got up...ate a healthy breakfast (turkey bacon, scrambled egg whites, whole wheat toast...and of course, "coffee")...had minimum arguments and off we went...

Joshua looks so handsome with his back pack and spiderman lunchbox. Such a big boy! In fact, when I dropped him off he saw all the kids playing outside, turned and kissed me and then waved while running "bye-bye Mommy."

But then his school called about 1 hour later. His fever returned and I had to pick him up. He then got to go to Mommy's class...he was pretty good sitting through presentations.
After all was said and done, I thought we both deserved some ice cream...so we had some.

He's Back!!!!!

Sorry for the lack of pictures over the last month. I have been having huge camera problems...and Joshua spent most of the past month in Amarillo with Nana and Papa. Now I have a new camera (no, not the DSLR) and Joshua is back!
Nana and Papa accomplished a big task - getting Joshua to sit at the table and eat. I am proud to say that we have kept up the good habit here. He is doing so well..I am very proud of him. I tried outsourcing his potty training as well...but we are still working on that one. :)
Unfortunately, he has been running a pretty good fever all day today. He is acting just fine, but we have had a temperature between 100-102 all day. Good thing he is such a big boy that he can take his own temperature now :P

Cars cookies, water, and a shark...all a boy needs.

oh...and trains!

More soon...tomorrow (if his fever goes away) is his first day at his new school!
