Our New Home

I could not be happier with our new home. I love the house I am renting and the neighborhood is almost too good to be true. We have already met four different neighbors, been invited for bike rides, play dates, dinners, fourth of July neighborhood parties, and monthly dinner outings. You walk down the streets and there are kids playing in yards, people walking dogs, neighbors gardening...it is exactly the sense of family friendly community that I longed for in South Carolina. I have only high hopes for this place.

Below are few pics of the house and the street. They were actually taken this winter ( I rented this place sight unseen...these are the pics Tasha and Matt emailed to me)

The house was built in the 1930s and was slightly renovated and updated a few years ago. The floor plan is a bit unique, but it is very spacious and my furniture fits great. Below is half of the living room.
Since we lost a bedroom in this move, J now has a combined bedroom and playroom. Luckily the room is plenty large enough to fit all of his stuff. I didn't take a pic of my room, because it is kind of sad compared to J's colorful space...more soon though.
The dining room leads into a very large kitchen. Through the french doors one arrives in a sun room that then leads to the a great backyard. The deck out back is the largest I have seen...with built in benches around the edges....more on that when I get some better light.

More pics later...hope to have regular internet access by the end of the week.

Atlanta to Monroe, LA

Sorry for the delay. No real internet since we have been in Bryan...hoping my connection lasts long enough to get a few posts in. The road trip was a big success...Joshua and Zach traveled like old pros. Paul only melted down once :).

Our last night in Georgia was a very nostalgic one for me...I am really going to miss GA. We went for pizza and then grabbed a cone at my fav ice cream joint , Brusters.

From Atlanta we drove to Jackson. We went to the zoo the next day, and while it wasn't that impressive, it did have a pretty cool train. Joshua was very happy!

From Jackson we drove to Monroe, LA. I finally got to meet my dear friend Lesli's baby girl Lili. She was too sweet...I still bad bringing our crazy monster show to their sweet home. We had so much fun...as the pics below show Joshua was not hurting in the play department at Lesli, Mike, and Lili's house.

Day Two: Georgia Aquarium

Today's trip to the Georgia Aquarium was extraordinary! The aquarium was the best animal zoo/aquarium that I have ever been to....Joshua was about to lose his mind with the sharks and whales and a range of Nemo characters :). Our favorite was the Ocean Voyager Exhibit that included Sand Sharks (below), Whale Sharks, the largest Rays that I have ever seen, grouper that were bigger than J (he called them whales), etc. We sat and just watched all the fish swim over us and in front of us...truly a one of a kind experience. (well, at least for someone who will never go scuba diving). We also loved the Beluga whales(above)...they were so elegant and beautiful.

Anyway, here are some pics from today...about to head for a much needed nap.

The obvious disclaimer: my camera was not up to challenge of aquarium shots...it barely takes pictures indoors at all anymore, so I got very few pics from today's excursion...and even those are merely evidence that we were there...HA!. (I will be using this as evidence of my dire need for 1: DSLR and 2: photography class.

Day One

Today was a big day for us. Saying goodbye to South Carolina was hard, but we are having fun on the road. Today we sold the house, went to Athens, had dinner with friends-Katie, Ian, and Adelaide, and ended at a hotel in Atlanta. Tomorrow is Aquarium day in ATL...so stay tuned for more.

(
On the road with my two human companions...Bubbies and Paul...a great friend who agreed to help us out with this drive...
My baby is Georgia Bulldog...

It is nearly 1 a.m....I need to go to sleep :)
