Sick Days

Unfortunately, Joshua caught an absolutely horrible virus--coxsackievirus A16--or "Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease." The ear infections were bad...but nothing was as intense as the first 48 hours of this virus. For those of you out there wondering...he had red ulcer like sores all in his mouth. He couldn't eat, he couldn't suck on his pacifier, he couldn't nurse, he couldn't sleep and he was generally very upset about the whole situation. I had a brief glance at life if with a colickly baby...I didn't like it. The only good part of it all is that you can only get this once. whew!!!!! Oh, and Joshua got to have several movie nights in Mommy's bed...something he really enjoys.

But we survived! I kept him out of day care one extra day to make sure he wasn't contagious. I would not wish the past few days on anyone. So today we just got to have fun. Joshua...or should I say, Sir Joshua, woke up to a grand breakfast (since Momma had some extra time). He savored every bite...it was like he knew not to expect this kind of thing every day as he took nearly 30 minutes to finish his plate.

After a quick run to to store, we decided to do some finger painting. Joshua was more interested in painting with the brushes...but he thought the paints were pretty cool.

By the end of it, he, a man after his Mommy's affection, decided we needed to clean up the floor. We got out the swiffer I rigged just for him and he went-a-moppin!
Of course, there was much more fun today of the more ordinary kind. It was nice to be home with him on a weekday and enjoy some non-sick time together. Tomorrow he returns to school and I return to work....

23 months

Joshua is talking up a storm these days. He is beginning to have actual conversations with us...although we rarely know what exactly he is saying :). I don't have many pics as he is quite a busy man and getting him still long enough for a shot is becoming increasingly difficult. The couple of shots below were taken this week as he plays in his new play room. Dan and I's big b-day gift to Joshua was a train table and play area...he obviously got this stuff early. His train table is now just waiting some train stuff. He LOVES cars, trains, and airplanes.

Coming Soon...POTTY TRAINING!!!! Yikes! Here it is his first potty. Although he has told his teacher twice now that he needed to sit on the potty and then actually went as well, when I ask him if he wants to sit on the potty he tells me NO...usually followed moments later by informing me that he has poo-poo in his diaper. Nice, huh!. Anyway, for now the potty just provides a bowl for him to use as a hat...yes, this will become a problem soon :)

First Hair Cut!

Today Joshua had to go to the doctor (an ENT check up) and since we were out, I decided that it was time for Joshua to get his first hair cut. We called Daddies, ate some lunch, and all went to the Barber Shop! I armed Joshua with a cookie, thinking that he was going to fight it....but no, he actually liked it. He especially liked looking at himself in the mirror.

The pics are bit blurry as I took them on my phone, but you see him watching his hair get cut. Below is just a portion of the locks for the baby book....

What a handsome little man.
I thought he looked so grown up...made me a bit sad...my sweet baby is getting bigger and bigger every day.
