24 pounds?

So last night was a rough one. Joshua's mouth must have been hurtung him and/or he was having night terrors...iow, he was screaming in the middle of the night. When I finally got him back down, I, of course, was lying there, with a baby on my arm/chest, wide awake.

I had given him some Motrin to help with his mouth. I have recently moved from infant motrin to children's motrin. Significance? Well...children's says it is for kids 2 years and up/24 pounds. This used to confuse me -which do I go by age or weight? Apparently weight...well most of the time, as motrin, in particular, was a drug I could not give until he was 6 months old. I went to children's b/c J weighs nearly 25 pounds and it is a bit cheaper. But all of a sudden, I began to second guess myself...I mean afterall, I had a lapse of good judgment that contributed to his accident...could this be the same?

I don't think so. But I began to think further... at J's last doctor appointment he was in the 95th percentile in height and only 46th percentile and weight (a problem not experienced by either of his parents :P). So if J weighs LESS than most babies at 15 months, and he weighs nearly 25 pounds, how many children take nearly 2 years to get to 24 pounds?

Oh and for the pic - completly unrelated. There he is falling dead asleep in the car wearing his new xmas hat! I just thought I would include one :)

Our first trip to the Emergency Room

Unfortunately, Joshua had an accident yesterday, which forced a trip to the ER. He is OK...I, on the other hand, am still quite traumatized.
So, what happened?
Well, while Momma was doing a little post-xmas gift card shopping, Joshua face planted into the tile floor from the stroller, jamming up his upper front four teeth and tearing up his upper gums. Luckily my mom was in a nearby store to scoop up the two of us (I was crying almost as hard as he was) and take us to the hospital. Luckily, all his teeth are in tact...they are a bit loose, but we will go to the dentist Monday (hopefully) to get another look! This pic is the least graphic as it represents the end of a nearly 2 hour long cry, waiting room nap, one change of shirts, several face cleanings, and visit from the doctor.

Sadly, the incident caused me to cancel our trip to celebrate Tasha & Matt's recent nuptials. We were really looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing T & M. Joshua seems to be doing pretty good today, despite a sore mouth, another ear infection (also discovered at the ER), and a host of doctor/dentist visits to come. (We have ear tube surgery when we return to SC).

Anywho, I promise to post a happier post soon with some funny pics. Keep your fingers crossed that the dentist will say good things this week. :)

Seeing Santa in Texas

We made it safe and sound to Amarillo. He is having a lot of fun and enjoying all the attention, the stairs to climb, and the dogs to play with. More soon...

Tis the season...almost 15 months

I thought I would post some photos as I take a break from preparing for the holidays and our upcoming trip to Texas. I imagine I will be a a day or so late with the 15 months posting...or early as the case may be. :).

First big event: Joshua refuses to let anyone help him eat. He is pretty good with his silverware...I am really proud of him! I honestly thought he would be closer to 2 before he got this down. Below are some pics of him shoveling in spaghetti...yum yum!!

Almost got it..

Success!!
Last weekend J and I hung out with Shevaun and Rowan, baked some stuff and watched Christmas cartoons. I got the boys some matching PJs (that are just too cute)!

Bubble Bath time (Rowan would not look up :( )

You can't escape!!!!

14 months!

It has been quite a sickly month...but we are hanging in there :). Joshua's new tricks: attempting to eat with a spoon (Aunt Janet would be so proud), going into his room and shutting the door...only to scream to be let back out, pointing and grunting excessively, dancing (see post below), and making sure his parents know the exact moment that they have countered his will :). He is quite the character and every day gets more and more exciting.

Joshua came home sick today...but is still cute :)

Hangin in the Horseshoe with some Starbucks :)

Happy Halloween!

Halloween was quite the event! Joshua wanted to do anything and everything that Momma didn't want him to do (e.g., running in the street without holding my hand). We did trick or treat at a couple of houses with our best friend Chewbacca (aka Rowan :) ).

A rare moment of sharing :)

Joshua gets very upset when he doesn't get his way. These boys are going to have to figure it out :P.

Rowan was just too cute in his costume.
I wish I had more of J, but he spent most of the night running away from me and melting down.

Boo at the Zoo

Tonight we went to "Boo at the Zoo" to mark the beginning of Joshua's first Halloween celebration (last year didn't really count). He was appropriately dressed and acted the part :P.

A day in the life of a little purple fish

I am a litte purple fish. Once I lived in a bath tub, but now I am free.

I sit in chairs and ride trikes...

I sweep floors...

And sometimes I even get fed to giraffes.

But I know Joshua loves me.

Even if he leaves me here til morning...

(besides its better than being eaten by that scary shark :) ).

13 Months!

13 months already!!! I apologize for not getting pics up for the past month, but we have been quite busy :). Joshua has 3 more teeth, 10 times the attitude, but still no words :). He is running around like crazy and is managing to injure himself more regularly. I think we can officially say that he is 1: a climber, 2: obsessed with anything that he can "drive" (i.e., push around on wheels), and 3: a cheese head (actually, he loves all kinds of food, but nothing lights up his day more than cheddar cheese and wheat bread).

"Bone to Be Wild" - Aunt Amanda will be happy to know that J has Halloween pjs (after oct. 31st, we are going to call them his "punk pajamas" :) ). Pic above from after bathtime (and subsequent getting-dressed-fit) with Daddies.

"I am the Tampon King"
(All the toys..and all he really wants to play with is...)

Mi (Great-Grandmother) came to visit us for a week. In fact, she stayed with J while Momma went to a conference. Here they are showing each other how to open wide :)

On the merry-go-round at the zoo...one of his favorite things to do.

At the playground at the zoo. WOW - how handsome he looks in those colors. :). Grandpa knows how to outfit this boy ;)

Must be a true blue Cowboy fan wearing that number :)

Morning play time. He is not hurting in the toy department.

Unrelated to Joshua...but...these flowers bloomed in the middle of my yard. They are very beautiful and were not a part of the lawn last seaons...Any guesses as to what they are?
